Some record news - it is in the process of being mastered, I hope to have the final product in my hands by around the end of the week, and assuming the guy who's mastering it hasn't ruined it, it will be ready to ship the the duplicators next weekish. Which means that there is a very, very good chance I will have finished cds in my little hands before the end of February.

Once again, I am attempting to learn a program in order to teach it. This time it's Adobe Illustrator, which I have always stayed away from because it is not nearly as friendly and intuitive as Photoshop (it's much more computery), which can do many of the same things. We in Digital are tired of always teaching the same sorts of classes though, quite a few of our students enjoy drawing, and Illustrator (if you have the patience to learn to use it) is quite good at manipulating drawings and photographs in a painterly way - so I decided to teach a class.

We'll see how it goes. It's a cool program, but like I said, it feels very computery - you have to use the pen tool which deals with curves and angles - very mathematical. I'm afraid the students won't have the patience. In any case, here's a self portrait I made from a picture the Kamila took of me...

Happy New Year! It's been way too long since my last update, so if you are one who looks at this page on a semi-regular basis, I apologize. I was stressing myself out about trying to finish the record, so in an attempt to make sure it turned out well (as opposed to quickly), I took a break from listening to it for several weeks, and when I came back to it, there were changes (mostly small) I ended up making to almost every song. I think I'm finally finished. I need to give the new mixes (just finished this week) a good listen and come up with a song order (which is tougher than you may think), then it's off to be mastered. The artwork has been almost done for quite awhile, and I haven't looked at it for probably three months, so that may need some fixing as well. No news on a date (or venue) for the release yet - if you have venue suggestions I'd be glad to hear them.
