Well, it turns out that, as far as I can tell, the magic of Style Sheets is nothing but smoke and mirrors, and my attempt to venture boldly into the world of CSS has ended with me asking your computer if it wouldn't mind showing you this text in Arial, or if that's too much to ask, maybe Helvetica?

This, alas, is often how such attempts to put my foot down end up.

I had a great weekend in Philadelphia last week - the show went well and it was fun to play with Douglas again and hang out with old friends I haven't seen in ages...

One last thing - for some reason, the form on the "join the email list" link hasn't been working. I set it up differently now, and it should work. So if you tried to sign up, you failed. Please try again.

I just got back from spending a week at the Penland School of Crafts in North Carolina with 20 of my high school students. Penland is a magical place, where everywhere you look there is some utilitarian object that is handmade and beautiful instead of mass produced. I used a wrought-iron toilet paper dispenser for the first time in my life.

As far as what's new on the website - the windows I designed for the Union Project's Union Station Cafe have been installed and you can see some pictures of them in the art/other section of the site.

Lastly, thanks to the magic of style sheets, I am now (hopefully) forcing you to read this text in Adobe Garamond Pro instead of whatever ugly font your computer feels like showing it to you in. Sometimes a guy just has to put his foot down...

A few more pictures from our trip... Here's Erin fighting off grumpyness in Chinatown.

Erin and I just got back from doing music at a friends wedding in Yosemite National Park this weekend. I had never been there before and was blown away. It's a truly amazing place - incredible beauty everywhere you look. Did a lot of hiking... Took a lot of pictures... We spent a couple hours in San Francisco on our way out, but we were exhausted, it was rainy and miserable, and after the quiet of the mountains, the bustle in Chinatown was not quite what we were up for...

Welcome to the re-design of my website. It has been a long time coming, and I've been putting in a lot of work on it. The most obvious change you will find is the art section, where you can find images of a variety of the work I've done over the last few years. On the songs page, you can listen to some new songs, as well as read lyrics from just about every song that I've ever written in the past twelve years or so. In the next few days, you'll be able to buy permanence & motion from cd baby. At this point, if you want songs:1989-1999, you'll just have to contact me. The news page is where you can find any updates about me and what I'm up to.

I owe Jill Wiggins and Charles Kyobe huge amounts of thanks for all the help they've given me on the design of the website. It's been a rather tedious process trying to learn web design, and so I will also thank them both in advance for the many times I'm going to need to come to them for help as problems arise and as I continue to add things in the future.

The new album is coming along nicely. I've finished recording three of the twelve songs that will be on the record, and there's really only detail stuff to do on the remaining nine - though that sometimes can take forever. I'm still hoping for an early summer release?

Thanks for visiting - hope you like the new design, and come again soon. I promise I'll do a better job updating this site than I did the last one. -kgh
